Mohammed Isma’il Lamuwa, one of hundreds  of young traders whose properties were burnt in the fire disaster that engulfed the GSM market in Maiduguri, said he was optimistic of bouncing back from the tragedy.

Lamuwa, 26,  told Kanem Trust, while standing right  where his stand  used to be at the burnt Jagwal Market, said  he would restructure his business and resume soon.

He said buying and selling of mobile phone items was the only business he was familiar with.

“This market is a second home for me. For over 10 years, I have been doing business in this market.”

He said he started business at the market since when he was just a teenager.

“Since I was in junior secondary school, I became an apprentice learning how to repair  mobile phones and other accessories until I established my own business. I sponsored myself to finish my SSCE and later obtained a National Diploma from the proceeds of the business.

“I boast  of over N250,000 as my capital before this fire disaster came and destroyed all our properties and left us empty-handed. For now, I have no other option than to remain in the market and start over again,” Lamuwa said.

He said he would welcome any assistance towards restarting his business and appealed to well-meaning individuals or groups to come to his aid.
