The Gombe State Government yesterday relaxed the 24-hour curfew imposed on Billiri Local Government Area of the state last Friday over the recent chieftaincy tussle.
Governor Muhammad Inuwa Yahaya, who announced the relaxation after meeting with officials and elders from the LGA, said the curfew would now be from 6am to 2pm.
He said the curfew was relaxed after a consultation with all the relevant stakeholders and the relative peace recorded in the area since the imposition of the curfew.
He said this was expected to aid the peace and healing process agreed to be led by the executives of Christian Association of Nigeria in Billiri LGA.
Earlier, CAN Chairman of Billiri LGA, Reverend John Joseph, had apologized to the Muslim community in Billiri and the state in general for the destruction of their places of worship and business premises during the incident.
