Maeba faults Wike’s leadership claims on Rivers PDP

Senator Maeba, who spoke in Port Harcourt at the unveiling of his 7-point blueprint for the state, said it was wrong for Wike to claim the ownership of PDP, stressing that only a governor of a PDP controlled state can make such claims.
He said PDP is a fertile structure whose umbrella was wide enough to accommodate every member of the party, adding: “It is wrong for somebody to claim that he has the structure of our great party under his beck and call. I am a founding member of PDP, and we are equal founders and joiners of the party. The constitution of our party is very clear on who is the leader of our party. The governor of a state is the leader of the party in the state, but the present governor of Rivers State is no longer in PDP, so nobody can claim the leadership of the party.”
Senator Maeba, who expressed optimism that he would get the party’s ticket, urged national leadership of the party to ensure that equity, justice and fairness prevailed when selecting its candidate in the state.
On his plans for the state, he said: “This blueprint for the accelerated development of Rivers State identified seven focus sectors for reform and rejuvenation as well as the policy thrusts and strategies to achieve this comprehensive development agenda.
“A summation of the change strategies, specific action points and targeted results for each of the seven focus sectors are also specified. My blueprint emphasises citizen empowerment, job creation, income generation, wealth creation and State self-sufficiency.”
He called on all those aspiring for political offices to run an issue-based campaign and shun campaign of calumny.
