The African Women Conference (AWC) has been charged to come up with recommendations that can improve African women’s participation in the African Continental Free Trade Agreement (AfCFTA).
Nigeria’s Minister of Women Affairs, Imaan Suleiman-Ibrahim, made the call at the 8th African Women Conference held from 6 to 8 November 2024 in Lusaka, Zambia, adding that by leveraging AfCFTA, African women could unlock new economic opportunities, enhance their participation in trade, and contribute to the continent’s growth and development.
While expressing excitement to be a part of the collective effort to empower and uplift women across the continent, the minister said 2025 marks a significant milestone in the journey towards advocating for better deals for women across the globe.
