The national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has been given a 16-day ultimatum to convene meetings of various organs of the party or face legal action.
The various organs of the APC that have not met since he assumed office on August 3, 2023, are the National Executive Committee (NEC), which is the second highest decision-making organ after the national convention; the National Caucus; and the National Advisory Council, also called the Board of Trustees (BoT).
Of all the organs, only the National Working Committee (NWC), which is in charge of the day-to-day running of the party, has been meeting.
In a letter dated May 21 and addressed to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, a former national vice chairman (North West) of the APC, Salihu Mohammed Lukman, asked the president to compel Ganduje to convene meetings of those organs within 16 days or face legal action.
The letter made available to newsmen on Wednesday in Abuja put in copy Vice President Kashim Shettima; Senate President Godswill Akpabio; Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Abbas Tajudeen; Chairman, Progressive Governors’ Forum, Hope Uzodinma; and Ganduje.
