The Labour Party (LP) governorship candidate in Kaduna State, Jonathan Asake, has challenged the state governor, Nasir El-Rufai, to halt the renewed attacks and killings in communities in the southern part of the state.
Speaking during a condolence visit to all the deceased families at the weekend, the governorship candidate lamented the inability of the APC government in the state to protect the lives and property of its citizens.
He said last week’s killing of eight innocent villagers in Kaura and Zangon Kataf local government areas within two days was provocative, highly insensitive and condemnable.
Asake said government must have the will to take decisions to apprehend and prosecute criminals and their sponsors no matter who they are in society to serve as a deterrent to others.
A statement by Asake’s media aide, James Swam, quoted the governorship candidate as saying, “the governor must rise to the occasion and defend the poor farmers in many communities not only in Southern Kaduna, but the entire state.”
