There was a low turnout of voters and apathy during the local government election held in Oyo State on Saturday.
Our correspondent who monitored election reports that there was a low turnout in Ibadan metropolis, especially around Agodi, Mokola, Iyaganku, Oja’ba, Oritamerin and many other areas.
Meanwhile, the Oyo State Independent Electoral Commission (OYSIEC) suspended the election in Ido Local Governnent Area.
Mr Isiaka Olagunju, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), chairman of the OYSIEC, told newsmen yesterday in Ibadan after a monitoring exercise that the election was suspended due to the omission of Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) logo in the ballot papers of the area.
“We have, therefore, decided to suspend the election in Ido Local Government pending a final decision on it in few hours,’’ he said.
He said the conduct of the election was generally good but could be improved upon.
