The state house of Assembly election witnessed a low turn of voters in Kogi state.
Though voters were at the polling units as early as 8.00 am for accreditation, but there was general apathy compared with the large turnout during the Presidential and National Assembly elections held a fortnight ago.
Our reporter observed that in Lokoja local government, the turnout was low and some shops were open for business ,while reports from Okun land indicated that the turnout was also low and peaceful.
The situation was not different in Kogi Central Senatorial District, but the accreditation exercise was said to be peaceful.
Also, in the Eastern Senatorial District the situation remained the same, but it was marred with ballot paper snatching , especially at Anyigba,Iyale and Egume area of Dekina local government among other areas.
INEC officials and adhoc staff at the polling units where ballot paper snatching took place in the Eastern senatorial axis ran for safety, and elections could not hold in those areas.
Meanwhile, there was a mild drama at Oduogboya as the youths embarked on peaceful protest chanting ‘ballot box are fake’ , ‘ we no go gree ‘.
It however took the intervention of the security agents to calm the situation.
