Lobi Stars, Wikki Tourists reach Aiteo Cup Round of 32

Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) sides, Lobi Stars and Wikki Tourists have reached the 2022 Aiteo Cup Round of 32 after their victories in yesterday’s round of 64 matches.

Lobi Stars laboured to a 1-0 win over Nigeria National League (NNL) side, ABS Ilorin in Kaduna courtesy of debutant Asen Shater’s lone strike in first half added time.

In Yobe, Junior Kano Pillars put up a gallant fight but lost 6-5 to Wikki Tourists on penalties after 0-0 in regulation time.

The ensuing penalty shoot out went to sudden death as both sides scored the initial five kicks.

Wikki’s keeper, Alladoun Kolmba saved Junior Pillars sixth kick to take the ‘Bauchi elephants’ to the Round of 32.

Recently relegated Katsina United also progressed to the next round after a hard fought victory over Saki United of Ilorin.

The Match played at the Bako Kotangora stadium Minna ended in a 2-2 draw before the ‘Çhanji boys’ squeezed through 5-3 on penalties.

There was a major upset in Warri where less endowed Ottasolo defeated Abia Warriors 3-2 while Insurance Feeders of Benin City defeated Dannaz FC of Lagos by a lone goal to remain in the competition.
