Lobi Stars yesterday brought to a halt their poor run of form in the 2021 Nigeria Professional Football League season when they defeated visiting Kano Pillars 1-0 in one of the week 11 matches decided at the Aper Aku stadium in Makurdi.

Before the victory, Lobi Stars who started the league campaign brilliantly had gone five matches without a victory.

Their last victory came in week 5 when they defeated Dakkada FC 2-1 at home.

Subsequently, Lobi Stars lost two matches away and drew three including the two home draws with Abia Warriors and Wikki Tourists.

However, Austin Oguneye’s solitary strike in the 5th minute was enough to return Lobi Stars to winning ways as they inflicted the third defeat on Pillars in the ongoing season.

In Enugu, Chiamaka Madu’s goal in the 30th minute handed Rangers the maximum points against Kwara United but the ‘Afonja Warriors’ are still top of the log pending when Enyimba and Rivers United’s outstanding matches are played.

Abia Warriors also proved too strong for visiting Warri Wolves as they thumped the Coach Evans Ogenyi tutored side 4-1 in Okigwe.

At the Agege township stadium, MFM added to Adamawa United’s woes beating them 2-0, Heartland held Sunshine Stars to 1-1 draw in Akure, FC IfeanyiUbah whitewashed Katsina United 3-0 in Nnewi just as Jigawa Golden Stars managed to send Nasarawa United back into the wilderness with a 1-0 victory in Kaduna.
