The Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Polytechnics (SSANIP) has enjoined President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to honour his words in giving Nigerian workers a living wage upon assumption of power last year.
It made the charge in a communique jointly signed by its president and secretary, Comrade Philip A. Ogunsipe and Comm. Nura Shehu Gaya, respectively at the end of its 72nd general executive council meeting held in Auchi, Edo state.
The council expressed dismay with the slow pace of consultation between the federal/state governments on the conclusion of the New National Minimum Wage law as the existing one expires on April 18, 2024.
The association at the end of its conference also expressed its concern about the economic crisis being experienced countrywide exacerbated by the galloping inflation rate that eroded the value of workers’ salaries and rendered many Nigerians struggling to survive.

SSANIP also expressed concern over the security situation in the country and called on the government to address it.
