Liverpool, Manchester City battle as Alisson, Ederson eye Golden Glove

Becker Alisson and Ederson will be vying for the Premier League Golden Glove as well as the Premier League title today.

Only one point separates Manchester City and Liverpool at the top of the table and it’s even tighter for the goalkeeper award, with the Brazilians level on 20 clean sheets each.

Alisson was ahead before last weekend’s fixtures but Liverpool’s 3-2 victory at Newcastle United gave Ederson the chance to draw level with a clean sheet in the 1-0 win over Leicester City.

City travel to Brighton & Hove Albion on Sunday while Liverpool host Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Rare feat

If Ederson and Alisson end the season with the same number of clean sheets, the award, which is presented by Cadbury, will be shared.

This is only the second Premier League season where more than one goalkeeper has kept 20 clean sheets.

The previous occasion was 10 years ago, when Edwin van der Sar had 21 clean sheets for Manchester United and Pepe Reina kept 20 for Liverpool.
