Staff union of the Librarians’ Registration Council of Nigeria (LRCN) led by national body representatives staged a protest at the office of the LRCN Chief Executive/Registrar, demanding an immediate solution to the federal government’s directive that the council should be self-funding.
Nigeria Civil Service Union, LRCN Unit chairman; Comrade Gambari Shuaib, said the directive has resulted in the council’s removal from federal government budget funding, which consequently made the staff not to receive January 2024 salaries.
Shuaib said staff were not convinced that the management of the council and the Ministry of Education were making efforts to address the matter.
