Ahead of the July local government election in Lagos State, no fewer than 1,050 aspirants have indicated interest in contesting for the chairmanship and councillorship positions.
There are 57 chairmanship and 377 councillorship posts to be vied for.

The state Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC) had fixed the date for the election, setting tone for increased activities by political parties in the state.
Daily Trust learnt that 1,050 aspirants comprising 250 chairmanship and 800 councillorship aspirants are vying for the 434 positions in the 57 LGs.
Our correspondent gathered that in some local governments, there are no fewer than 25 chairmanship aspirants while there are other councils with only one aspirant.
