Ahead of the local government council polls slated for May 12, 2018 in Kaduna State, the state command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) has cautioned youths in the state against any form of political thuggery and violence; threatening that perpetrator of such acts will be arrested and sanctioned accordingly.
The State Commandant of NSCDC, Alhaji Modu Bunu while addressing head of departments, area commanders, divisional officers and head of units ahead of the polls warned against any act of sabotage while he assured of the Command’s readiness to provide water-tight security before, during and after exercise.
While he said the Command in collaboration with sister agencies have mapped out strategies on how to ensure safety of election materials, security of lives of electorates and officials; he disclosed that over 6,000 officers and men of the command will be deployed in addition to reinforcement from neighboring states including Kano, Zamfara, Plateau, Nassarawa, Niger and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
He further stated that the corps in partnership with other agencies has made arrangements to ensure security of lives at polling units, collation centres and State Independent Electoral Commission (SIECOM) offices across the state as well as protection of sensitive election materials.
Bunu however urged community and political leaders, traditional rulers and other opinion leaders to assist by sensitizing their subjects and followers against acts inimical to peaceful conduct of elections.
