The Plateau State Commissioner of Police, Emmanuel Olugbemiga, has warned officers of the command against collecting bribes, brutality and any other act capable of tarnishing the image of the Nigerian police.
The CP gave the warning while briefing police officers at the headquarters of the command in respect of the local government election scheduled for Wednesday.
The police boss said the briefing became necessary to ensure a smooth and peaceful conduct of the election, emphasising the need for the officers to display exceptional professionalism and emotional intelligence throughout the electioneering.

He said, “All officers who are found wanting in any way would face severe disciplinary actions in accordance with the Police Act and Regulations. The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) is committed to ensuring a peaceful and hitch free democratic process, therefore the Plateau State Commissioner of Police has made all operational assets ready to ensure that the conduct of the election in all 17 LGAs is peaceful.”
Daily Trust reports that 11 political parties are participating in the election and have signed a peace agreement and promised to abide by the rules and regulations guiding the exercise.
