LG launches migrants register in Kano

To further strengthen its security apparatus, Gwarzo Local Government Area of Kano State has launched a register to capture the data of all new migrants in its locality.

While launching the register on Monday, the chairman of the council Bashir Abdullahi Kutama,  an engineer, said the initiative was aimed at overcoming possible security threats and challenges by bad elements that may infiltrate the area.

According to a release signed by the zonal information officer, Rabiu Ibrahim Khalil, the council chair also provided working equipment for vigilante groups during the ceremony, and urged the people of the area to support security agencies by providing vital information that would assist them in the discharge of their duties.

Also speaking at the occasion, the Director of Special Duties, Alhaji Habibu Abdu Kofar Mazugal, stated that incorporating 20 village and ward heads to register new migrants in the local government was a commendable effort by the council that would improve the security of lives and property.

On his part, the commissioner for local government, who was represented by the ministry’s permanent secretary, Alhaji Ibrahim Ahmed Sagagi, said the ministry would ensure the implementation of the security initiative in all the 44 local government areas in the state.
