There are indications that the Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) would experience another stormy local government congress following unresolved grievances among members and chieftains of the party.
Daily Trust reports that despite the skirmishes that characterised the ward congress in the state, the party has allegedly failed to reconcile aggrieved members and is going into local government congress.
With many members of the party aggrieved, there are fears that the outcome of the LG congress would be trailed by several petitions.
A source said: “As I am talking to you, the party is yet to address our grievances arising from that flawed ward congress where one person just selected the ward executive. This is not a fair and free selection.
“Now they must be planning the same thing for the forthcoming LG election and we are also watching as events unfold,” he said.
Recall that during the ward congress in the state, no fewer than five petitions were sent to the Appeal Panel based on the outcome of the exercise.
The petitions emanated from different groups within the party that challenged the consensus option adopted by the state caretaker committee led by Hon. Tunde Balogun.
Balogun had defended the consensus option, saying it was in line with the provisions of the party’s constitution.
