Former Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo has said leveraging technology for developmental solutions could drive lasting progress and further transform political actions into a force for real development in Africa.
Osinbajo, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, stated this at the Technology, New Media, Citizens and Governance Conference (TNCG) organised by leading civil society organizations, BudgIT and Enough is Enough (EiE) Nigeria.
The conference, which has been rebranded from its former name, “New Media, Citizens, and Governance Conference,” is focusing on the theme “Technology: The Present and Future of Political Action in Africa” and examine the growing influence of emerging technologies, including Artificial Intelligence (AI), on governance across the continent.
Giving his remarks as a keynote speaker, Osinbajo noted that leveraging technology for developmental solutions in education and other critical sectors in Africa could drive lasting progress and also transform political actions for real development in the region.

He said, “Political action should go beyond protest to achieve measurable reforms with the elites playing a crucial role in shaping and sustaining change.
“Additionally, leveraging technology for developmental solutions in education, in healthcare and governance can drive lasting progress. And I thin that by using technology responsibly and innovatively, we can empower individuals, we can transform political actions into a force for real development in Africa.”
