A renowned Islamic scholar and director, Islamic Education Trust, Minna, Niger State, Malam Nurudeen Lemu, has called for comprehensive reforms of the nation’s education sector to develop the youth for national development.
Lemu made the call in Abuja weekend at the 10th annual Al-Habibiyyah Islamic Society Women’s Forum with the theme “Managing Teen Years for Effective Nation Building”.
He said the need for a comprehensive and holistic review of the nation’s education sector to inculcate vocational and family values into the curriculum could not be over emphasized.
“We need to urgently introduce a more holistic educational system that will carter for all our 21st century needs, because the society is constant changing,” Lemu said.
He traced most of the vices in the society to poor parenting, urging parents to do more in the interest of national development.
