The Speaker House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara and other speakers have called for peaceful coexistence among Nigerian.
They said that peace is the only thing that guarantees development of any nation.
Dogara in remark as guest of honour at the 2018 Zaar annual cultural festival, “Lembn Zaar” in Tafawa Balewa Saturday said that the celebration was a result of return of peace in the area after it suffered various sectarian crises in the past.
According to him, the celebration of the Lembn Zaar festival is a testimony that the community is enjoying peace and is becoming prosperous as it was before.
He said that, the people living in the area have collectively accepted that there is need for peace and that enough is enough for violence.
The speaker called on communities experiencing violence or strife to emulate Tafawa Balewa in order to rebuild peace in their area.
He however lamented that, violence and insecurity have retarded development in the North East taking it backwards despite concerted efforts by the authorities and international community to bring peace to the area.
He stressed the need for communities with adherents of various faith and diverse sociocultural backgrounds to embrace one another and live in peace.
In his address, the guest speaker, Terwase Orbunde ,Chief of Staff to Governor Samuel Ortom called on ethnic minorities in the country to unite and forge a common front.
He said that, their unity will work well for them as it has worked during the second republic which witnessed alliances between various ethnic minorities across the nation which guaranteed their place in the scheme of things.
In his remark, the national president, Zaar Development Association (ZDA), Engineer Isuwa Galla called for unity of purpose by the Sayawa people in order to develop their area.
He also called on Bauchi State government to return the local government headquarters to Tafawa Balewa as peace has returned to the area.
It could be recalled that the local government headquarters was relocated from Tafawa Balewa to Bununu, a neighbouring town after incessant crises which led to loss of lives and displacement.
