Legislatives aides warned against idleness

The chairman of the National Assembly Service Commission, Engr Ahmed Kadi Amshi, has urged the federal lawmakers’ aides to be proactive and creative in their responsibilities.

According to him, idleness is no longer acceptable in the National Assembly.

Amshi made the call in Abuja on Tuesday at the induction/orientation training programme for senior legislative aides and personal assistants.

“You’re expected to be productive and proactive towards enhancing good performance of all the lawmakers.

“You’re all my colleagues in the National Assembly. I call you my colleagues because up till June 2019, I was still a Senior Legislative Aide. So, I know what I’m talking about,” he said.

The Clerk to the National Assembly, Ojo Olatunde Amos, represented by the Secretary, Parliamentary Relations and Protocols, Suraju Adedoyin, said to achieve development in the country, legislation should be made through a people-oriented model.

“Knowing fully well that the Nigerian society can never experience accelerated social political and economic development without people oriented legislations, I believe that the onus of this much desired expectations, lies squarely on legislators and by extension all of us gathered here today,” he said.
