Aides of Senators and members of the House of Representatives yesterday protested against non payment of their September salaries and allowances by the National Assembly management.
The protesters who carried no placards converged at the lobby wing of the National Assembly complex where both senators and reps pass to their chambers. They protested for about 20 minutes.
One of them, Barrister Taye Olabanjo, said: “We are protesting over the non payment of our September salaries and 28 days Duty Tour Allowance (DTA). The DTA was captured in last year’s budget but when we approached the National Assembly management, they said had paid it to our bosses. But when we met our bosses, they denied receiving it. It is unfortunate that they are doing this to us. We have no option than to protest in this peaceful manner,” he said.
