Lecturer, tailor killed as hoodlums clash in Jos

A lecturer at the Department of Psychology, Federal University, Gashua, Yobe State, Sani Muhammad Mazadu and a tailor, Safiyanu Sa’id, have been killed during a clash between two rival groups around Yankwaba, Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau State.

Our correspondent, who visited the area, gathered that the hoodlums clashed in the area during which stray bullets hit the victims.

A relative of the lecturer, Jamilu Abdullahi Mazadu, who confirmed the incident to our correspondent, said they reported the case at Anguwan Rogo Police Divisional Headquarters.

He said policemen had visited the family of the deceased while one of the hoodlums had been arrested.

Mazadu said, “The deceased was studying for PhD. The death of Sani has indeed shocked everyone of us but we believe that Almighty Allah has permitted that he would not longer be with us any more. He and the other victim have been buried this morning. We pray Allah forgive them.”

The spokesperson for the police in the state, ASP Ubah Gabriel, had yet to respond to the SMS sent to him on the incident.
