LEBANON: Israel strikes Hezbollah intelligence headquarters

Israel’s military says it has carried out a strike on a Hezbollah intelligence headquarters in Lebanon’s capital Beirut.

“Earlier this morning, the IAF (Israeli Air Force) conducted an intelligence-based strike on a command centre of Hezbollah’s intelligence headquarters and an underground weapons workshop in Beirut,” the military says in a statement on Sunday.

It adds that several steps were taken to “reduce the possibility of civilian casualties”, including “issuing advance warnings to residents”.

The military also said its air force killed Al-Haj Abbas Salama, who it describes as a senior commander in Hezbollah’s southern front, Rada Abbas Awada and Ahmad Ali Hussein.
