The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, who wrote about the incident on Twitter on Thursday morning, said alcohol test would be carried out on Greg.

He wrote, “On May 4, 2022 at about 0745hrs, a middle aged Lebanese by name John Greg ‘m’ drove a Toyota 4Runner recklessly and against traffic on Sanusi Fafunwa Road thereby hitting one Omotomi Akinsanya ‘f’ which resulted in serious injuries to her leg. He sped off but was chased and arrested.

“The suspect is in our custody; vehicle impounded and in our station; victim undergoing treatment at LASUTH. Victim’s family duly informed. Embassy of Lebanon duly informed. Investigation (is) ongoing.”
Responding to a comment insinuating that the Lebanese is guilty and there is no need for futher investigation, Hundeyin, said, “No one is guilty. Everyone is presumed innocent until proven guilty.”
“The court has the final say on that. We already took him for alcohol test. That result of that test will be presented in court. Also, is he a qualified driver etc.? So investigation is necessary,” he added.
