A Member of the House of Representatives from Katsina State, Danlami Mohammed Kurfi, at the weekend, escaped mob action in Kurfi town over alleged favouritism on employment offers to his constituents.
Daily Trust gathered that trouble started when the lawmaker, who represents Dutsinma/Kurfi Federal Constituency, was in Kurfi on a condolence visit.
Seizing the opportunity offered by the visit, the youths reportedly attacked him while chanting many unprintable words.
It took the intervention of some elders and youths who barricaded the lawmaker to whisk him to safety.
It was gathered that some youths felt “cheated” in the recent employment slots the lawmaker secured for the area and therefore resorted to violence.
Hon. Kurfi has since described the development as unfortunate, saying every ward was given a slot. He said his gesture had nothing to do with favouritism of any part of the constituency.
