Corporal Punishment

Corporal punishment is the intentional act of disciplining by inflicting physical pain as retribution for an offense or wrongdoing.

The purpose of corporal punishment is to prevent the offense or wrongdoing from happening again by instilling or associating fear with these undesired acts.

Some people support corporal punishment as a valid form of education. On the hand, there are also a large number of people who denounce corporal punishment as cruel and inhumane. And of course, there are people who are undecided.

It is, however completely different from the capital punishment or death penalty which is government sanctioned punishment referred to as a death sentence.
