The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) has impounded 20 commercial vehicles on Apongbon Bridge and at Ikorodu roundabout in the state.
It was learnt that the operation was carried out to ensure free flow of traffic through a total clampdown on commercial buses operating in illegal parks across the state.

This was contained in a statement by the agency’s Director of Public Affairs Unit, Adebayo Taofiq, on Sunday.
LASTMA General Manager, Bolaji Oreagba, said the illegal activities of commercial vehicle operators on bridges and roundabouts across the state contravened the Lagos State Transport Sector Reform Law of 2018.
Oreagba revealed that the enforcement unit of the authority had to embark on the exercise on Apongbon Bridge and Ikorodu roundabout because of the recalcitrant drivers who do not want to operate within government-designated parks despite several warnings issued to them.
He noted that the agency would not rest on its oars in curbing illegal activities of the unruly commercial vehicle operators, noting that the government was expending huge resources on constructing standard bus terminals in every part of the state.
“We would continue to ensure free flow of traffic around bridges and roundabouts across the state by scaling up our enforcement and clampdown operations on these stubborn commercial buses operating illegal parks, garages and car mart in the state,” Oreagba said in the statement.
In the same vein, Odunuga Olukayode, the Head of the Enforcement Unit of LASTMA, stated that the agency is committed to the clampdown on the nefarious activities of disobedient commercial vehicle operators until total compliance is achieved.
