Three persons with confirmed cases of Lassa Fever are currently on admission at an Isolation Ward for Lassa Fever patients at Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital (ATBUTH) Bauchi.
Bauchi State Commissioner of health, Dr. Halima Mukaddas disclosed this in Bauchi yesterday while speaking on the recent resurgence of the disease in the state.
Over 15 people died of Lassa Fever in 2016 in Bauchi State while four people out of five reported cases died between January and February 2017.
Shortage of drugs and other needed equipment have been identified as some of the factors hindering the treatment of the disease in the state.
However, it was gathered that the state governor, Mohammed Abdullahi Abubakar and the state commissioner of health would hold a meeting with the minister of health on Wednesday over the issue.
