LASEMA foils suicide attempt in Lagos

A man whose identity was still unknown has been rescued by emergency responders from committing suicide in Lagos.

The suicide attempt of the young man in Ejigbo area of Lagos State was foiled by one of the divers from the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) Marine Unit.

His actions attracted the attention of passers-by on the Lekki-Ikoyi Link Bridge, who in turn reported it to LASEMA at about 10:35 am on Saturday.

The agency’s spokesperson, Nosa Okunbor said, “It was established during the operation that the rescued young man, who could not give coherent explanations as to why he was contemplating suicide, has been on medications and had in fact been undergoing therapy for a while, in a leading state-owned tertiary institution, as confirmed by his personal physician.

“He was attended to by the agency’s paramedics.”
