The youths were trained by the Industrial Training Fund ITF in Jos to prepare them for self employment as a way of engaging them in productive ventures.

Lar who was at the graduation ceremony held for the youths called on youths in the state to acquire skills in information and communications technology as well as wealth creation so as to be self sufficient, and be able to contribute positively towards the development of the state, and the country in general.

She stated that the aim of the training programme embarked upon in collaboration with the Industrial Training Fund is to empower young people and ensure they prosper through entrepreneurship.

“The training provided tools to improve the business and lives skills of 61 young men from my constituency in the area of carpentry, mechanic, computer, GSM repairs, electrical and welding over a training period of six months after under-going the federal labour trade test,” disclosing that she had also trained over 400 women in different vocational skills, and provided them with micro-credit.

Moreover, the lawmaker said she had also established a youth empowerment skills acquisition centre in Langtang.

Wife of the Plateau State Governor, Mrs. Ngo Talatu Jang said as part of her contribution to the state she has decided to focus on a project that has direct bearing on the lives of women and youths in the state.

According to her, the pet project which is christened:” Women in agriculture and youth empowerment”, is aimed at impacting entrepreneurial skills, harnessing the talents and knowledge of women, and youths for the development of the state.
