Lame said the primary was marred by violation of electoral laws and partial implementation of a court order, which should not be allowed to stand.
During the primary election that held on December 4, a former Commissioner of Justice and Attorney General of the state, Barrister Mohammed Abubakar, won by polling 936 votes, while Lame scored 806 votes.
Addressing a press conference in Bauchi yesterday, Lame alleged that the election witnessed over voting, disorderly conduct, harassment of officials, barring of his supporters from casting their votes as well as frequent electricity failure during the election
He called for a re-run of the election because “2,854 delegates were accredited during the election, but at the end of the day 2,865 votes were cast which means there were excess of 41 votes.”
He also alleged that there was no formal declaration of the result after the election, adding that “our agents were not given the sheet to sign.”
He said: “The procedure of conducting the primary election was discussed among all aspirants, party leadership and the electoral committee, but unfortunately all these issues were violated, while some delegates were refused accreditation. We are waiting to receive justice from the party. If we are not satisfied with the position of the party, we will look for other option to address our political future because we will not allow what we built in four years to be truncated.” he said.
