Lalong warns gov-elect against issuing directives

The Plateau State governor, Simon Lalong, has warned the state governor-elect, Caleb Mutfuwang, against directing banks and organisations to stop transacting with his government.

Lalong also warned the governor to stop threatening civil servants in the state, saying the mandate given to him still subsists until May 29.

In a statement issued by the state Commissioner of Information and Communication, Dan Manjang, said “It has again become necessary for the Plateau State Government to once again remind citizens, corporate bodies and other stakeholders that the mandate of Governor Simon Bako Lalong still subsists until 29th May 2023.

“This reminder has become necessary because of pronouncements, covert and overt actions of some persons and groups with the aim of truncating the remaining mandate of the Lalong administration before it hands over to the next government.

“In particular, the government is aware of letters and correspondence being written to corporate organisations, clients and partners of the government warning them to cease doing business with the current administration before the end of its mandate.

“Similarly, civil servants have been constantly under threat since the outcome of the elections and have remained under this situation till this moment.”
