The Plateau State Governor, Simon Bako Lalong, on Wednesday, presented N133.4 billion budget estimate for 2021 fiscal year to the state’s House of Assembly.
It was tagged “Budget of Economic Recovery, Inclusive Growth and Infrastructural Consolidation”.
He said the estimate is N10.6 billion, representing 8.6%, than the 2020 revised budget of N122.8 billion.
He said N83.9 billion was earmarked for recurrent expenditure and N49.5 billion for capital.
He said the budget was proposed after the state government carried out public consultation through town hall meetings and further engagements with relevant stakeholders within the context of the current economic realities.
He urged the state lawmakers to speedily consider the proposal, saying timely passage of the budget was also going to be a boost for the state to qualify for more grants.
Lalong further said that the budget was intended to implement programmes and projects to achieve an inclusive and high-income strategy while securing an increasingly better life for all.
