As preparations for the 2021 Jos international polo tournament hit the final stages, Plateau State Governor, Barrister Simon Lalong has commended the initiative of the Jos Polo Club for positioning the event as the driver to celebrate and consolidate on the newfound peace in the state.
Polo Royals reliably gathered that Governor Simon Lalong who has accepted to lead as the Patron of Jos Polo Club expressed his administration’s determination to use sports and polo in particular to rekindle investors’ interest and tourist attraction to the state.
Lalong pointed out that polo and sports generally, was not only a veritable tool for fostering friendship, national unity and cross-cultural understanding but also a catalyst for international diplomacy, tourism and investment, adding that sports is a catalyst for business.
He declared that the state was proud of the activities of the polo club and its commitment of using the game to showcase to the world that the state welcomes prospective investors as Plateau State boasts many world-class recreational and quality hospitality assets.
Jos Polo President, Murtala Laushi confirmed that the glamorous annual fiesta would gallop off December 26, 2021, and thrill till January 2, 2022, enthusing that all is set for the “Peace Tournament”, assuring polo buffs across the country exciting and of world-class games in all the major cups categories.
Polo Captain, Yusuf Dauda disclosed to Polo Royals that 28 teams from most of the major polo clubs across the country have indicated interest in jostling for top honours in the event this year.
