Governor Simon Lalang of Plateau State yesterday gave a one-week ultimatum to  Secretary to the State Government (SSG) to submit its report on the Jos Muslims burial ground.
Governor Lalong, who issued the ultimatum when he hosted the Muslim community in the state, said, “This issue of Jos burial ground has been long overdue and must come to an end. I give you,  Secretary to State Government and the committee handling the matter one week to submit your report and resolve this problem once and for all”.
The community had during the last Eid-el-Fitr homage to Lalong decried what it called discrimination by the immediate past state government. The group also lamented the closure of the burial ground and encroachment into the Sardauna Memorial College.
Lalong said: “I don’t want this community to come back with this burial ground issue, it must be resolved. At our next meeting, I want them to come up with suggestions on how to strengthen the peace and development in our state. Let me reiterate that my administration will not discriminate against any community.
“I heard that some people are saying the capital of the state is now in Du, Jos-South Local Government Area. Let me clearly say it point blank that Jos North LGA still remains the capital of Plateau State, and we will do everything possible to fix not only roads but other critical infrastructure and give our capital a befitting look. We promised the people during our campaign, to bring change.”
