#LagosAPCPrimaries: APC chairman declares Sanwo-olu winner with 970, 851 votes against Ambode’s 72,901

The chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC in Lagos state, Hon Tunde Balogun, has declared the former Commissioner for Establishment and Training, Babajide Sanwo-Olu as the winner of the governorship primary, #LagosAPCPrimaries held in the state.

Amidst the confusion and tension trailing the conduct of APC governorship primaries in Lagos which the National Working Committee (NWC) annulled, the state chairman of the party has insisted the elections stand.

The State Party Cbairman, Hon Tunde Balogun announced the results at the State Party Secretariat on ACME road on Tuesday’s night.

He said incumbent governor Akinwunmi Ambode polled 72, 901 votes while his main challenger Sanwo-Olu backed by the national leader of APC, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu polled 970, 851 votes.

He also declared Sanwo-Olu as the candidate of the party for the 2019 governorship election in Lagos state.

Recall that the APC in Lagos rejected the decision of the NWC to annul the primaries earlier conducted in the morning indicating a landslide victory against the incumbent Governor Akinwunmi Ambode.

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Comrade Adams Oshiomhole yesterday met President Muhammadu Buhari on the ongoing primaries of the party in across the country.

Briefing State House correspondents on the meeting held behind closed doors, Oshiomhole said “I updated the President with what I am doing and what roles he is expected to play and of course compare notes so that at any point in time, Mr. President is abreast of what the party is doing and we have the benefit of his own input, his own experience and his own thinking.”

Ambode’s deputy dumps him, supports Sanwo-Olu

Asked on what he told the President on the Lagos state primaries, the former Edo state Governor said, “All that is good to go on, direct primaries, and everything is being done to ensure that there is no violence. Democracy doesn’t flourish with violence and Nigeria must begin to learn how to differ in opinion and in choice without fighting. And for me I am excited that if we can do it in Lagos, we can do it anywhere.”

On the position of the NWC on the Lagos primaries, he said everything that is being done in Lagos state was under the control, supervision and directions of the NWC.
