The Lagos State Government has declared zero tolerance for all forms of domestic violence against women and young ladies, particularly rape; saying it will name and shame anyone found guilty of such acts.

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu in his keynote address at the International Women’s Day celebration organised by the Ministry of Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation (WAPA), which held at Police College Ikeja, vowed that the state will ensure that justice is served in every case of domestic violence.

While commenting on the theme for this year’s celebration ‘Women in Leadership Achieving an Equal Future in COVID-19 World’ and the slogan #Choose to Challenge; he challenged women to continue to amplify their voices in their quest for gender equality and desire to occupy more space in leadership.

“Challenging stereotypes, eradicating biased views and widening your perceptions are vital to an equal and enabled world. Given the opportunity and support, there is no limit to what a woman can achieve,” the governor said.

He encouraged the men to continue to support, love, respect, value and cherish their women.

The Commissioner for Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Mrs. Cecilia Bolaji Dada, in her welcome address stated that women leaders across the world and women organizations have demonstrated skills, knowledge and network to effectively lead in COVID-19 response and recovery efforts.
