Director-General, National Council for Arts and Culture, Otunba Olusegun Runsewe, announced on Thursday that Lagos State would host the 35th National Festival for Arts and Culture (NAFEST), tagged “Eko 2022.”
He announced this in Abuja at a preliminary meeting with the Lagos State Government through the Lagos State Commissioner for Tourism, Arts and Culture, Uzamat Akinbile-Yusuf and her team.

Runsewe said Lagos State met all the necessary requirements for hosting the event.
He said 5,000 delegates from the 36 states and the FCT would be in Lagos for the festival.
According to him, the festival is to promote the unity of the country through arts and culture.
He noted that the festival gives hosting states the opportunity to showcase their culture and activities to people from diverse cultures so that they can appreciate and learn about their cultures.
He said if the citizens could understand and respect other people’s cultures, there would be no tension in Nigeria.
Runsewe crowned the wife of the governor of Lagos State, Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, as Mama NAFEST 2022.
