The Lagos State government has revealed that the state would intensify its efforts to ensure a third wave of COVID-19 is prevented as only one percent of the population has been vaccinated.
A release issued yesterday by the state Commissioner for Health, Prof. Akin Abayomi, said more stringent actions would be enforced at the airport to prevent a new strain of the virus ravaging many countries in the world from entering into Nigeria through Lagos.
Prof. Abayomi said the trigger for a third wave in Lagos is likely to be the importation of new COVID strains from inbound travellers.
He vowed to enforce the protocol banning entry to non-Nigerian passengers who have been in Brazil, India or Turkey in the last fortnight due to concerns over the spread of coronavirus in those three nations.
