The Electoral Committee of the Lagos State Football Association (LSFA) has announced May 27 as the new date for election into the board of the association.
Segun Babatunde, Chairman of the electoral committee, told newsmen on Wednesday in Lagos that the election was earlier scheduled to hold on Jan. 31.
“ But it was postponed due to the directives from the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).
“We had gone far in the state FA electoral process before NFF issued a directive suspending all the states FA elections.
“As you are all aware, we have concluded the processes of forms collection, screening and publishing of successful candidates, but had to postpone it because of the directives from the NFF,’’ he said.
Babatunde gave assurance that free, fair and credible election would be conducted by the committee.
“All is set for elections as we are determined to conduct a free, fair and credible election that all football stakeholders in Lagos will be proud of,’’ he said.
Meanwhile, elections will also be conducted into the various five football divisions across the state on the May 17.
According to the lineup of events released, by the electoral committee, collection of forms is from April 18 to April 25.
Submission of forms is scheduled for April 26 to May 2.
Screening of candidates is to hold between May 6 and May 7.
The electoral committee, however, tasked media and the public to join hands to make the electoral process successful. (NAN)
