Lagos State Government yesterday rewarded 13 outstanding teachers selected across the six education districts with a brand-new Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV) each in recognition of their passion and deployment of modern techniques to teach pupils.
Recipients of the car gifts were part of the finalists nominated for the 2021 Teachers’ Merit Award by the screening committee led by the chairperson of the Association of Private Educators in Nigeria, Mrs Lai Koiki.

Out of the 3,529 applicants that were screened by the selection and nomination committee of teachers for the award, 22 semi-finalists were selected to compete for 13 cars.
Recipients of the brand-new vehicles are Adenike Ojo, Folasade Oyedeji, Oluseyi Amoo, Olubukola Dosumu, Olusegun Muftau, and Fauziyat Adegeye.
Others are Michael Ayoola, Omolayo Fadayomi, Bolanle Alamu, Adeola Adefemi, Soji Megbowon, Yahya Adesokan and Lukman Agbabiaka.
Koiki, who is the Director of Green Springs School, applauded the state government for creating a reward system for teachers, stressing that the initiative had recognised the importance of education as the bedrock of development.
Other members of the committee are Mrs Funke Fowler-Amba, Mrs Abisola Obasanya, Mrs Sherifat Atinuke Ogboye, Mrs Yinka Ogunde, Miss Oyindamola Egbeyemi and Mr Idris Adetutu.
