Tension has continued to mount in Ojo, Ijanikin and Otto Awori of Lagos state over alleged cancelation of votes in some polling units by officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Party agents alleged that no official reason was given before the sudden cancelation.
The Taiwo Fadase agents of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Ijanikin said elections did not hold in about 11 polling units in his area.
He identified the polling units as, 001b, 003, 004, 005A, 005B, 006A, 006B, 007A, 021 A and 021b.
“Please not that no concrete reason was however given for the hasty cancelation of the units. We will confront the issues head long, our leaders have gone to Ojo to ascertain why the units which one of our strong hold by INEC” he added.
He said on Saturday INEC officials posted to the area did not show up on time and that when they did, they did not come with all materials for the election.
“We were happy when the INEC chairman directed that voting will hold in all the polling units where complaints were recorded. So we were out as early as 8am ready for voting, only for INEC in charge of Otto Awori to say that election have been canceled in the polling units mentioned,” he added.
INEC ofificials were not immediately to respond to our reporter’s query.
