The Chairman, Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC), Justice Ayotunde Phillips, has said that the July 24 local government elections will cost N3.5billion.
She also noted that the previous local government election in 2017 had an estimated budget of N2.5billion but the review of costs incurred after the exercise showed that it was not enough.
She said the costs of operations and materials since 2017 prompted the increase in electoral budget as she revealed that funds are released in tranches because the administration is committed to many projects and programmes.
