Lagos leading in appointment of non-indigenes – Gbajabiamila

The Speaker of House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, has said no state in Nigeria can beat Lagos in appointment of non-indigenes to key government positions.

He said the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, ran an all-inclusive government when he held sway as Lagos governor and worked with people from all parts of Nigeria.

Gbajabiamila stated this while addressing his constituents in Surulere Federal Constituency in Lagos at a campaign rally, according to a statement by his media aide, Lanre Lasisi.

He, therefore, urged the people to vote for Tinubu, whom he described as a leader with deep connection with the grassroots.

He said the most effective means of assessing the dividends of democracy is to vote for leaders who identify with the people on the streets when they are in and out of power.

Gbajabiamila said: “Asiwaju elevated Ben Akabueze from the commissioner in Lagos to Director General of the Budget Office of the Federation even as Akabueze is from Anambra State. Akabueze determined the budget of the whole of Nigeria. No state in Nigeria can parade the number of non-indigenes and non-Yoruba in government like Lagos.

“I can continue to mention many south-easterners that have enjoyed the touch of God and Tinubu in their lives. South-easterners and south-southerners are trading and living in peace in Lagos.”

He said Tinubu is the only leader among those contesting for the presidency in the 2023 general elections that knows the challenges confronting average Nigerians and has always found the best ways to address their issues.

He added that a vote for Tinubu is a vote for an all-inclusive government.

He said he has brought various development projects in health, education, and road infrastructure to Surulere II where every resident benefits irrespective of ethnic or religious difference.

“When you vote for Tinubu, Sanwo-Olu, Eshinlokun, Okunlola, Desmond Elliot, Sangodara, me, and all APC candidates, you will have more than double the physical developments you are witnessing now,” he said.
