Team Lagos, Kwara and Ogun are currently leading at the top of the medal table in the ongoing National Table Tennis Championships held in Osun State.

The tourney organised by the Osun State Table Tennis Association (OSTTA) with support from the Michael and Felicia Alabi Memorial Foundation and Canada-based Jodal Health Care has witnessed display of action among 28 states who participated.

After the conclusion of some events which include mixed doubles, para in standing and sitting and deaf, team Lagos, Kwara and Ogun  have won two gold medals while Ondo is on the fourth position with one gold.

Today’s fixtures in the single event will see the battle for podium finish among the top seeds will as number one seeds in men and women singles Akinwale Fagbamila of Ondo and Bisola Asaju of Rivers will trade bats while other top seeds will also be in action.

Ahead of the contest, Fagbamila has assured to deploy his arsenal, saying his target is to return home with the highest prize.

“There is no doubt that this tournament has continued to improve every year with new players coming on board. But nothing can stop me from clinching the gold medal for my state because I have trained well and I will put all my hard work to action when the matches begin,” he said.

It could be recalled that the tournament is a ranking event by the Nigeria Table Tennis Federation (NTTF) as the results will be used for national ranking for 2024.
