The Lagos State Government has extended the hours of operations of both food and non-food markets from six to ten hours
The state government had in May 2020 asked markets for non-food items to open on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays and food markets to open for business on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays from 9am to 3pm.

A statement on Sunday by the Commissioner for Local Government and Community Affairs, Dr Wale Ahmed, said both markets could now open from 8am to 6pm.
He said the decision of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu to extend the markets’ operation time was to further enhance trade, commerce and mitigate the hardship of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The commissioner emphasized that the alternate days of operation remained in force for both markets.
He urged all traders to adhere strictly to the COVID-19 protocols for their safety and the populace.
