Lagos DPO removed over allegations of sexual harassment, gun theft

The Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Denton Police Station, Lagos, Adegoke Atilase, has been removed over allegations of sexual harassment against him by one Jenifer Madueke.

Madueke had accused the DPO of sexually harassing her while she was being detained by the police at Deton Police Station, Oyingbo.

Madueke was said to have been detained on the orders of the DPO over a case of theft of a service pistol belonging to an officer.

The DPO, a Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP), was removed on the orders of the Commissioner of Police, Hakeem Odumosu.

The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Adekunle Ajisebutu, in a statement, said the removal of the DPO was to allow for thorough and unbiased investigation into the matter.

Ajisebutu said the command was not aware of the reported case of theft of service pistol against Jenifer Madueke.
