Lagos council chair, councillors tango over N650,000 birthday aso ebi

A group of people under the auspices of Concerned Ikosi Isheri LCDA Residents have reportedly filed a petition against the Chairperson of Ikosi Isheri Local Council Development Area (LCDA) of Lagos State, Mrs Samiat Bada for allegedly selling N650.000 worth fabrics for her upcoming 50th birthday.

City & Crime reports that an online medium had reported that the group accused Mrs Bada of making it compulsory for councillors, supervisors and workers to buy the fabrics, among other allegations.

But addressing the media at the council’s secretariat on Tuesday, Mrs Bada described the allegation as completely false and baseless.

Bada told newsmen that the allegations were part of a deliberate attempt to blackmail her, tarnish her reputation and create unnecessary division within her administration.

She said, “I stand before you today to address the recent allegations that have been circulating on social media in which the writer claimed that I imposed a N650,000 aso ebi (traditional fabrics) on my staff.

“I want to categorically state that these allegations are completely false and baseless. Since assuming office, I have prioritised the welfare and working conditions of my staff.’’ (NAN)
